The Music Ministry at Woodlawn Baptist Church exists to provide vocal leadership and instrumental accompaniment in a way that supports and encourages congregational singing during corporate worship.
The primary purpose of the Music Ministry is to encourage congregational singing (Col. 3:16) through both traditional hymns and contemporary songs. Our aim is to limit potential distractions and unnecessary embellishments as a means of serving thee congregation as they focus their hearts and minds on exalting Christ together through song.
On Wednesday evenings from 6:00-6:45pm and Sunday mornings from 8:45-9:30am, our ministry meets for rehearsal. The primary purpose of these times is to work through each song, making sure we can offer skillful accompaniment free of musical blunders, so that our congregation can worship without distraction on Sunday morning.
Each month our ministry gathers for additional theological and musical equipping. Usually we will gather at a member's home for a time of teaching and discussion followed by our much anticipated "jam sessions". These nights allow for our ministry to become a true community of believers leading our church in worship.
There are opportunities to volunteer as either a vocalist, instrumentalist, or helping with the Audio/Visual team. Click the link above to see all the ways you can begin serving in our Music Ministry!
